Here’s to Azaleas and Wisteria in the Spring!

When spring rolls around in Charleston, y’all, it’s like the whole city gets dressed up for a party. The azaleas and wisteria are putting on a show, and it’s time to take in that Southern beauty in all its glory.
Now, azaleas are kind of our “signature flower” here in the Lowcountry. I’m talking about those lush, colorful bursts of pink, purple, and white that’ll make you want to stop and snap a photo (or twenty). The best place to see them is in the historic gardens like Middleton Place or Magnolia Gardens—these places are practically dripping in azaleas come March and April. Trust me, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a painting.
And let’s not forget about wisteria. That gorgeous purple bloom is like nature’s way of saying, “Let’s slow down and take a breath.” You’ll see it hanging from old trees and fences, giving everything that dreamy, romantic vibe. Head to Drayton Hall for some of the best wisteria views—this place looks like it belongs in a movie set, with the flowers hanging over the paths and historic homes.
Come spring, Charleston just bursts with color, and trust me, you won’t want to miss it. Grab a camera, a hat, and get ready for some jaw-dropping scenery!
